I ordered this glass to top a stone fire pit under our gazebo, so that is can double as a table. (I added thick felt furniture pads on the bottom of course.) I was nervous about ordering a large piece of glass like this, almost expecting it to come damaged... Sure enough, UPS managed to misroute it and it came a week late in an open, partially destroyed box (by no means the sellers fault). I assumed the worst, but to my surprise, I found a fully intact, flawless piece of black glass. Just one small scuff on the edge, again presumably due to the poor shipping and handling by the courier. It is very thick, as described, and seems like it'll be durable enough to last many years outdoors.
